2023 business plans

January, and therefore 2023 is less than a month away. For many businesses means a week or two off for Christmas, before returning to start the new year with fresh ideas and plans.

As an occupational health business, we tend to see an influx of inquiries, emails, and phone calls in the first few months of a new year. Many businesses have ‘new year resolutions’ and want to set these in motion in January. As this tends to be the time of year to implement big changes.

But what are businesses focusing on for 2023?…

Technology

This has been at the top of the list for a few years. With consistently huge advances in technology, every year we see new gadgets which do something unseen before. Many businesses choose to update their office or shop floor equipment every few years, and this tends to be a great investment. With most new technologies, the physical setup will be only slightly different, whereas the technology will differ vastly. However, it’s important to ensure that these seemingly small changes do not affect the health and safety of your staff. Regular assessment and training will ensure this.

Sustainability

On the agenda for various sectors for the past 20 years at least, sustainability is crucial. But it has become apparent in the past few years that businesses are vital to improving things. Whether this is switching to an all-electric fleet, improving the recycling system within the office, switching to a paperless system, or improving the insulation within your building in order to use less energy. Big or small, changes to make your business more sustainable are only positive.

Acquiring talent and growing the team

If the covid pandemic taught us anything, it is that life is too short, and we should enjoy the time we have. This in turn saw many people leaving jobs that they ‘put up’ with because it was easy, and moved companies or even changed careers. Many companies had core team members leave, which caused a gap in knowledge and experience. Providing a fulfilling workplace that works alongside an individual’s life is important to retaining and attracting talent. On top of this, businesses should provide safe, happy, and healthy workplaces. This includes providing your employees with the necessary and relevant medicals, and assessments.
