Acorn New Ergonomic Services

At Acorn Occupational Health we have a team of experienced and qualified professionals. Each brings their own unique knowledge and expertise to the OH services we provide. This includes our team of ergonomic experts.

That’s why we’ve recently invested in wearable technology that will help us to carry out ergonomic assessments unlike ever before. This sensor technology will revolutionise the data we collect, and the insights we gain into how your employees interact with their working environment.

Understanding Ergonomics

Ergonomics has gradually moved up the list of priorities for employers across the UK in recent years. It looks at how individuals interact with their work environment. With the aim of reducing the risk of work-related musculoskeletal issues. Our range of ergonomic assessments focuses on mitigating physical and mental strain and stress on your employees. Which relate to how they work, and the daily tasks they complete within their role.

Functional Capacity Assessments (FCAs)

Our Functional Capacity Assessments determine if an employee has the necessary physical abilities to complete tasks required for their role.

The technology…

  • Motion Capture Technology. This technology assesses functional capacity, providing insights into an individual’s mobility and stability.

Using state-of-the-art Motion Capture technology, we can gain insight into an individual’s physical capacity. In turn, whether the employee possesses the necessary physical abilities to perform their job requirements effectively.

The outcome…

Once we have collected the data from the motion capture, this is assessed by one of our ergonomic experts. They will evaluate the musculoskeletal fitness of the employee. From here a management referral could be suggested. Or we could recommend appropriate work adjustments if required.

Process Ergonomic Assessments

This assessment looks at how an employee moves while working. Identifying risk activities, and job analysis.

The technology…

  • Wearable Sensor Technology. It assesses work tasks to identify the risk of musculoskeletal injuries, enabling proactive interventions.

Utilising the innovative Wearable Sensor Technology, we can identify risk activities. Plus, provides actionable solutions to reduce the occurrence of musculoskeletal injuries. This technology enables us to collect video analysis data which can be scrutinised to understand how a factory worker moves.

The outcome…

Our team of ergonomists will gain a good understanding of the job role, and understand any risks associated with the tasks involved. Based on the results, our team provides a comprehensive report. This will include practical and prioritised recommendations to mitigate risks to employees’ musculoskeletal health.

A Combined Approach

Our combined approach involves job task analysis to assess employees’ functional capacity. Plus, evaluate how tasks impact their musculoskeletal health by utilising wearable technologies.

The technology…

  • Motion Capture Technology. This technology assesses functional capacity, providing insights into an individual’s mobility and stability.

AND

  • Wearable Sensor Technology. It assesses work tasks to identify the risk of musculoskeletal injuries, enabling proactive interventions.

The outcome…

Used together, Motion Capture and Wearable Sensor Technologies provide valuable data to quantify musculoskeletal risk. Our ergonomic experts will analyse the movements of an individual, plus their posture. This will provide them with insight into potential task rotation schedules. Plus any other actionable solutions that can be implemented by employers.

Our investment into wearable technologies to complete ergonomic assessments

Acorn has invested in cutting-edge technologies to enhance our ergonomic service offering. This technology will enable us to collect quantitative data and gain objective insights into employees’ musculoskeletal health.

The technologies give us insight into heavy lifting and prolonged standing, and how this impacts workers’ health. Thus equipping businesses with quantitative data to create safer working conditions.
