Ill Health Retirement

When a person has a health condition or disability which affects their ability to work, they could be eligible for ill-health retirement.

For a person who has a health condition or disability, working can be difficult, and this can get progressively worse. In this case, an individual could be able to claim their pension early and therefore retire early. But certain criteria will need to be met. Along with independent financial advice to ensure that the person can afford early retirement, proving they will not run out of money too soon.

Beginning the process

Whether you or an employee are looking to pursue early retirement because of ill-health, the first step would be to have a medical assessment by a physician. Acorn is able to provide assessments specific to ill-health retirement. Following the assessment, a report will be provided informing the employee of their eligibility to receive ill-health retirement and the steps required moving forward.
