Ergonomic DSE Assessments

Our team of experienced and fully qualified Ergonomists specialise in carrying out Ergonomic DSE (Display Screen Equipment) Assessments. These are aimed at office-based employees. These assessments are essential for identifying and addressing risks associated with prolonged computer use, poor workstation setup, and static postures. These are all common contributors to musculoskeletal discomfort in modern office environments.

With a strong focus on employee health and workplace productivity, our Ergonomists use their expertise to evaluate individual workstations and recommend tailored adjustments. An Ergonomic DSE Assessment can help prevent issues such as back pain, neck strain, and repetitive strain injuries. Furthermore, these assessments support compliance with Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations

    Benefits of Ergonomic DSE Assessments

    1. Reduced Risk of Musculoskeletal Disorders
Helps prevent common issues such as back pain, neck strain, and repetitive strain injuries caused by poor posture or workstation setup.

    2. Improved Employee Comfort
Tailored adjustments to chairs, screens, and equipment lead to a more comfortable and supportive working environment.

    3. Increased Productivity
When employees are physically comfortable, they’re more focused, less fatigued. Therefore, they are better able to maintain consistent performance throughout the day.

    4. Lower Rates of Absence and Presenteeism
By addressing discomfort early, assessments can reduce time off due to pain-related conditions. As a result, this will improve overall attendance and engagement.

    5. Compliance with Health and Safety Regulations
Supports your legal obligations under the Health and Safety Regulations 1992, helping you avoid non-compliance risks.

    6. Early Identification of Individual Needs
Detects any specific adjustments or equipment needs – such as footrests, monitor risers, or alternative seating – to support individual employees.

    7. Cost-Effective Risk Management
Proactively addressing ergonomic issues can reduce the need for more expensive interventions later, such as long-term absence management or injury claims.

    8. Positive Workplace Culture
Demonstrates your commitment to employee well-being, which can improve morale, retention, and your organisation’s reputation.

    How The Assessment Works:

    Assessment

An Ergonomic DSE Assessment typically takes around one hour and is carried out on-site by one of our qualified Ergonomists. During the assessment, the Ergonomist works directly with the employee to review their workstation setup, including the desk, chair, keyboard, mouse, monitor, and overall working posture. They will identify any risk factors contributing to discomfort or poor ergonomics.

    Report Writing

Following the on-site assessment, the Ergonomist will produce a detailed report outlining their findings and tailored recommendations specific to the individual’s needs. This report may include advice on how to adjust the current workstation setup, suggestions for alternative equipment such as ergonomic keyboards, vertical mice, or specialist chairs, and recommendations for additional items like footrests, monitor risers, or laptop stands. The aim of the report is to provide practical, actionable guidance that can be easily implemented. As a result, this will reduce discomfort, prevent injury, and ensure the employee is working in a safe, supportive environment.
